He
walked up to her and said hi,
Not
knowing, in a short year, it would be a heart breaking goodbye,
How
quickly they had bonded,
He
found that she was all he had ever wanted.
The
first date, the first hug, the first kiss,
All
were perfect, yet for her something was amiss,
He
was happy beyond words,
She
was taking small steps backwards.
He
worked hard, spilled blood, sweat and tears,
So
that he could keep her by his side, suppressing his fears,
Of
her leaving him for another,
He
just wanted a future together.
Then
came the first fight,
Words
exchanged all through the night,
He
said some things, she said some more,
Phones
switched off in anger at quarter to four.
Morning
came, afternoon shined and dusk fell silently,
He
called and messaged and waited patiently,
Then
he received a single message from the one he loved so much,
"It's
over, please don't keep in touch."
In
the silence of midnight one could hear,
His
heart breaking in silent despair,
A
single fight and his love was discarded,
For
all his efforts he was thus duly rewarded.
Two
months since the fateful night,
He
sees a picture of her holding someone else so tight,
Too
numb to even be horrified,
He
prays for her, yet wonders what was it that he couldn't provide.
